Puro Sound Labs BT5200
Bluetooth Wireless Headphones

Every once in a while I come across a product that seems to simply stand out from all the other competitors in its category. These are often products with extra features or simply great quality that’s unmatched. There are some excellent wireless Bluetooth headphones on the market and many people can’t really tell the difference between the sound coming from an average pair of headphones and the sound coming from a top quality pair. That’s not true of the audiophile; if you consider yourself to be a true lover of music you probably have no problem hearing the subtle differences between headphones of different quality.

In the wireless Bluetooth headphone category there’s one particular set of headphones that really stands out in a crowded field and that’s the Puro Sound Labs BT5200 Studio Grade Bluetooth Wireless Headphones. These headphones not only have great sound quality, but they also feature a lot of little extras that will protect your hearing and make sure you enjoy the best listening experience possible while you workout. They’re not unreasonably priced either.

Healthy Ears Means a Healthy You

I always shake my head a little bit when I’m working out next to someone in the gym that has earphones blasting so loud that I can clearly hear the song they’re listening to ten feet away. It’s amazing to me that they’re not worried about the damage they’re doing to their ears – not to mention the noise pollution they’re spreading around the gym. One of the biggest reasons that some people listen to their music so loudly is because they’re listening to a poor quality set of headphones. These Puro Sound Labs headphones actually have studio quality sound that reduces the ambient noise in the background, allowing you to more clearly hear your music. They’re capable of blocking out up to 82% of background noise; they also limit the maximum volume output to 85 dB, which is the maximum safe listening level for the human ear. What all of this means is that you can hear your music clearly and enjoyably without blowing out your eardrums.

If that isn’t enough to convince you, these headphones also have something called Healthy Ears technology, which actually monitors the volume level you are listening to so that it can determine when you’ve reached a level that’s potentially dangerous. When you do reach those dangerous levels the headphones have interactive reporting technology which signifies to you that it’s time to turn the headphones down. As far as I know, this is the only set of headphones on the market with this type of technology.

Professional Quality Sound

As we’ve already briefly mentioned above, these headphones have professional sound quality that you’d expect to hear in a music studio. That’s because they have 40 mm dynamic drivers in either ear piece – creating a full-immersion stereo sound that’s unrivaled by anything else on the market. There’s a reason you don’t have to crank these babies up too much – the sound clarity is so good you don’t have to worry about missing a single lyric.

Amazing Battery Life

If you love your music as much as I do your mouth is probably already watering at the prospect of getting a pair of these headphones, but before you get too excited about a set of headphones you have to look at their battery life. There are wireless headphones with as little as four hours of battery life, but the average is about eight hours. Well, that’s one more area where the BT5200 blows away the competition. This set of headphones has up to 24 hours of battery life when you’re actively listening to the headphones, and up to 200 hours of standby power. For the average person, that means you get close to a month’s worth of workouts on one charge. I’ve yet to come across another set of headphones with this type of amazing battery life.

Durable Construction

I’ve gone through so many headphones in my days that I lost count ages ago. The problem is that I just throw them in my gym bag when I’m not using them and toss them around from time to time as well. Then there are the several dozen times I’ve put my headphones through a couple of spin cycles in the washing machine. All of these factors take a lot out of traditional headphones and it isn’t long before you find yourself having to purchase a new pair. Most of the headphones currently on the market are made out of cheap plastic and don’t do a good job of handling any water or moisture. These Puro Sound Labs headphones are made from a durable aluminum construction, which makes them better able to withstand the wear and tear of an active lifestyle. They’re also a little too large to put in your pocket, so there’s not much danger of you putting them through the washing machine either.

A Little Tight

In my search through reviews of this set of headphones I found it difficult to find anybody with any complaints about their sound quality or general overall build quality, but I did find a few people that weren’t too happy about the way the headphones fit. In quite a few cases people have complained that these headphones simply fit too tightly and are rather uncomfortable. I can only speak for myself, but I prefer a set of headphones that I can place on my head and pretty much forget they’re there – if they’re going to fit your head too tightly that’s a bit of a problem.

The Top of the Class

While it is a little concerning that some people found the Puro Sound Labs BT5200 headphones a little too tight, these people seem to be in the minority; most people were quite satisfied with the fit of these headphones. When you consider this along with the fact that they actually feature studio-quality sound and come with exclusive Healthy Ear volume monitoring technology, these may simply be one of the best set of Bluetooth wireless headphones on the market. The fact that they’re made out of aluminum also means they’ll last you a long time, and that takes a little sting out of the price tag. I’d definitely recommend this set of headphones.
