LG Tone Infinim HBS-900 Wireless Stereo Headset

I’ve always been a big admirer of innovative technology and it’s for that reason that I’m constantly on the lookout for the next big thing. This applies to all different kinds of technology, whether it is smart phones, tablets, top-of-the-line laptops, or, as in this case, wireless Bluetooth headsets. We review a lot of them on this site, but very few of them are noted for their innovative features that stand out from the crowd. Don’t get me wrong – there are a lot of great Bluetooth headsets to choose from; it’s just that after looking at a few of them they all start to look the same.

If you enjoy innovative products that bring you features you haven’t seen before then you should take a close look at the LG Tone Infinim HBS-900. This is without a doubt one of the most innovative headsets on the market today, with a level of quality that’s equal to or greater than just about anything else out there. They aren’t the most affordable pair on the market, but they’re fairly reasonably priced.

Cutting-Edge Design

When you first set eyes on these headphones you’ll no doubt be struck by their innovative design – in fact, they look like something from a science fiction movie. They have a sleek design and a metallic silver color that will light a spark of imagination within you. If you’ve ever been a fan of Star Trek or Star Wars you’ll probably agree that these headphones wouldn’t look out of place in either one of these movie series. Perhaps the best part about their cutting-edge design is that they’re also very light weight, which means you’ll barely even notice them around your neck.

Retractable Earbuds

One of the innovative features that are part of the cutting-edge design of this headset is the retractable nature of the earbuds. You don’t have to worry about losing your earbuds as they are attached to a headpiece that keeps them secure at all times. The cool part, though, is that you can actually pull the earbuds out to put them in your ear – they are attached to cords that retract into the headpiece. It’s really something you have to see to truly appreciate the nature of this innovation.

The only problem is that some customers have complained that the headpiece the earbuds are attached to is made out of cheap plastic and can break easily. In fact, it’s fair to say that several customers have had some kind of complaints about these earbuds and the nature of their longevity. In general, customers that have complained about their build-quality suggest that you’d be lucky to get a years’ worth of use out of them – $85 is a lot of money to spend on a set of headphones that will barely last you a year.

Quality Sound

If you’re familiar at all with speaker technology then you’ve probably heard the name Harmon Kardon – they make some of the best speakers on the market today and it’s their technology that LG has used for the earbud speakers on this headset. What that means is you can be sure that the quality of sound that your ears will be exposed to is top-notch.

Easy Access Controls

When you lead an active life you need a headset that’s going to remain secure through your entire workout, and the HBS-900 has you covered in this respect as well. They actually have something called and easy access jog button that’s built right into the headset; this allows you to play, pause, and skip a tune with one simple touch on the earpiece. I don’t know if you’ve ever tried fumbling with your smart phone while you’re jogging through the park trying to select a different tune, but I can tell you it’s not an easy task. If you’re going to have the best workout possible you want to minimize the distractions.

One Touch Calls

This headset isn’t just for listening to your music on the go, though – it also acts as a great hands-free device for your smart phone. It has a built in HD voice mike that has crystal-clear sound. You won’t have to worry about being able to understand the person on the other end of your call as the built-in mike does a great job of minimizing background noise.

One thing that does bear mentioning, though, are some potential issues with what the person you’re talking to hears on the other end. At least a couple of customers have noted that the people they’re talking to complain about a little bit of static and distortion on the other end of the line. This only seems to be an issue for a minority of people, but it’s still something that needs to be considered.

It Talks!

When you’re in the middle of a high-intensity workout the last thing you want to do is have to double check a battery indicator to see how much charge you have left in your headset. LG eliminated this concern by including voice alerts that sound in your headphones, letting you know when your battery is running low. You can also set the alerts to provide you with periodic updates on the current time. As an added bonus if you’re using an Android device, this headset is compatible with Tone and Talk technology, which means you can actually dictate SMS messages through your headset. This may not be a requirement for most people, but it’s a pretty cool feature none the less.

Innovation Can Make the Difference

While I generally prefer over-the-ear headphones to earbuds because of their solid nature and the fact that they don’t rest inside your ear canal, the innovative technology included in this product may be just enough to change my mind. It’s quite simply packed full of a lot of features that set it apart from the rest of the field. I love the retractable earbuds and I’m particularly impressed with the Tone and Talk feature. This headset definitely makes my short list.
